Wall Murals 2008 - Belmont Wall Exhibit

ArtinPlace, in partnership with the Charlottesville parks and Recreation Summer Program commissioned the artist Rose Hill to lead a summer program for students at Clark Elementary School to create the drawings for a mosaic tile mural on the entrance wall at Belmont Park. The students envisioned concepts that represented their view of the beauty of a city park, using the name, “ Belmont Park” as the central idea.

The goal of the project was to build community, allowing the youth to see that they are integral contributors to creating images that represent our joy in the life we find here. Under the direction of Rose Hill, community volunteers and the children helped install the mosaic tile on the wall. The installation happened over a four-day period in July 2008.
