Comma

Steel & Ferro-concrete Stucco
10' x 6'5 x 6.5'

Location: Rose Hill & Preston

Comma Sculpture

Value: $7,800

Artist Statement

Comma presents a kinetic spiral disk that turns on a cylindrical base.  The spiral form evokes progression and rotary motion, and spheres on the spiral tips suggest heavenly bodies in the swirling universe.  The curving spiral shape can also be seen as a rolling wave or a rotating sail.  Its steel disk is rusted and the cracked and stained stucco base resembles an old stanchion or wharf mooring, evoking obsolete machinery and the decay and passage of the Industrial Age.

Sculptors, art critics and connoisseurs appreciate Comma as a study in line, plane, shape, volume and dynamic space.
