Artist Statement

"Skylines" is a sculpture designed for an urban setting. Its job is to draw the mind's eye toward the ties that bind the natural world to that man-made setting. The architecture of the base suggests the angular, geometric construction of so much of what we associate now with modern urban construction. Zigzagging its way to vertical, it transitions from the angular to the organic curves and cloud shapes that refract light, both natural and man-made, playing off the stainless steel forms aloft. It further transitions from implied movement to actual kinetic shape shifting in reaction to the play of air. It is a curiosity magnet first and foremost. Its most basic mission is to inspire wonder and delight, and elicit the curiosity to draw you back to see how it behaves each day as the weather fortune blows our way.
