Statement My work usually combines stone and steel. I find the juxtaposition of organic stone with man-made metal, as well as the contrast in surfaces, interesting and appealing. Generally, I finish some parts of the stones, while leaving other parts in their rough, natural state. Pieces commonly start with a stone and evolve to something totally different than my original vision. I let the materials guide my eye and hand, rather than trying to bring a drawing or image to life. Philip
