Artist Statement

Mouth of Life is a monumental composition that conveys the complexities of life's lessons and the value of the pain required to learn those lessons. Pain, suffering, and reemergence are revealed in much of my work. I use weight and movement to bring life to heavy materials that typically resist moving,

Mouth of Life represents the depressions or holes in my life that I have created. These holes have come with life choices and the resulting consequence of choice. An enclosed box with no release, swallowed into a black hole that does not find freedom until my demons have been wrestled with. The result is to be drawn into the earth to wait and listen to the soft voice of truth - and what is heard inevitably drives me forward toward consciousness.
